Workplace ergonomics, which encompasses more than just sitting considerations, is a science in itself. There are numerous books, research articles, specialists, courses, consultants—and a fair number of opinions—on what is the best way for someone to be set-up to spend a fair amount of time at a workstation. Ergonomics, or human factors, is the scientific discipline concerned with the understanding of interactions among humans and other elements of a system. It is also the profession that applies theory, principles, data and methods to design and to help optimize human well-being and overall system performance (International Ergonomics Association website: http://www.iea.cc/whats/)
